These tacos were great! I've never added the refried beans with the meat before. DH and I enjoyed the creaminess of that mixture. I didn't bother with the 1 tsp oil as I almost never use oil to brown ground beef and I used soft taco shells. Of course there were lots of fixings to add in as suggested. Thanks for sharing.

WARNING!!! DO NOT COOK THE SHELLS ON 400 degrees! They will burn! Most of the time they are cooked @ 325 for 3-8ish minutes (depending on the brand) NOT 400. I wasn't paying attention and followed the directions and burned them. Had to start that all over again when everything else was done. The other problem is - if you use meat with more fat you have to strain it (and you don't need to add the oil), and so adding the seasoning when the directions say to is NOT a good idea. That being said these were awesome & I'll continue to make them this way from now on.

Yummy, hearty taco filling! I used 96% lean ground beef and used cooking spray in place of oil. The refried beans serve to stretch the ground beef as well as add some flavor and texture. We had this filling in hard and soft taco shells and we had a taco fixins bar. I may add refried beans to my taco filling all the time now. Thanx for posting!

I used ground turkey simply because I didn't have any beef. I also used soft whole wheat tortillas. Thanks for a yummy tasty lunch. Made for 1-2-3 tag.

Easy to make and enjoyed by the family. I did change this up a bit. I used a pound of burger, a packet of taco seasoning, 3/4 cup of water and a can of refried beans. I also omitted the onion and the olive oil. No one even noticed that there were beans in this. Nice, different way to make tacos.

I did alter this a bit. I used 1 lb of lean ground beef, omitted the olive oil, only 1/2 an onion and a packet of taco seasoning. I also used more water. These came out very good. Large quantity, not sure how many servings exactly, but we have leftovers. I also omitted the olives, but added diced avocado and used light sour cream instead of nonfat. I felt this method was a little less messy to eat because the beans helped hold the meat together. Yum!

Great tacos! I love the idea of mixing the hamburger and refried beans. I think I'll be doing that for tacos from now on. I didn't have any taco seasoning, so just fudged it, next time I'll make sure to use the real thing. We topped ours off with tomato/salsa, olives and lettuce. We cheated though and added cheese. These are VERY generous portions and DH was full after 2 (normally he'd eat at least 4 tacos). DH did say the beans were a little dry, but probably because of the lack of water/taco seasoning. He does want me to make them again though!
