This was a new and exciting way to top a plain old hot dog!! The whole family loved it and told me they couldn't wait for me to make these again!! Loved the bite of the cilantro. I also use some cheez whiz on top.... Thanks for posting! Made for ZWT 5

Fabulously different toppings for a hotdog. Not your usual kraut, chili, or onions....I topped with pico de gallo, and was so pleasantly surprised with the great taste of cilantro on a hot dog! Since DS asks for this almost every weekend, there is now a way to make the ordinary extraordinary. Thanks for posting! Made for ZWT5.

I have had a Mexican Dog once before and it was great. Made this today with the pico de gallo and it was awesome!! I cooked these in a cast iron skillet on the grill for even heat distribution. They had a nice smoky flavor. Mixed some lime juice and garlic in with the tomatoes, onions and cilantro. Love the story that goes with this recipe. Thanks for posting!!

This is absolutely fabulous!! My husband actually ate three of these hot dogs and that is very unusual. We typically eat pretty healthy, but every once and a while we will splurge. This recipe is so worth the splurge! I cooked the bacon wrapped hot dogs in a grill pan on my stovetop. The bacon crisped up perfectly and really put these hot dogs "over the top". The tomato, onion, jalapeno and cilantro mixture is a wonderful topping. I also put ketchup and mustard on mine. I just heated our hot dog buns in the microwave. One other note..I used nitrate-free bacon and hot dogs from Trader Joes because my daughter and I get migraines if we eat the regular type. This recipe is going into my best of the best file! Thank you to gailanng for recommending this recipe in the Best of 2011 thread.

Oh man! It's hard following GailAnn with photos, lol!!! But, this was a great recipe. I rarely have hot dogs anymore except at football games. I've never had one wrapped in bacon before, but this was great. My first standard for a good sandwich is that it needs to be messy. This certainly fits the bill. Really good toppings that I totally enjoyed. Thanks Galley Wench for a nice diversion from the norm. Made for Best of 2010 Tag.

Great topping! This really dressed up the hot dog nicely. I used the optional cheese and jalapenos. The flavors were great! Thanks for sharing!

These are awesome hot dogs! I did not use the optional jalapeno, mustard or relish on mine. I actually varied the toppings depending on each of my family member's taste so this recipe worked out very well. It is so versatile and a great way to make an ordinary hot dog extra-ordinary! Thanks for sharing!

So good. I wanted to make these like the ones I remember getting in Tijuana, so used the optional ingredients of ketchup, mustard and relish. Yum!

wow what a nice recipe, a nice change from regular hot dogs. I used half a jalapeno and instead of cilantro, I used italian parsley. I loved the bacon around the hot dog. I topped mine with spicy mustard. Thanks Diana :) Made for Cookbook tag game
