I made this tonight to go on our homemade nachos! It was delicious! I loved the flavor, but my husband thinks it overpowered the other items on the nachos. I think that might be because we had more meat than usual, and less "other toppings" than at most restaurants. Next time I'll cut back just a little for each amount of spice. Thanks so much for sharing! **Update: I use this recipe EVERY time I make something that needs mexican style beef! I love that you can use the same measuring spoon for all the spices (at least I do) and the amounts are simple and easy to remember. Sometimes I skip the cornstarch depending on what the beef is used for and I never miss it - great flavor even without a "sauce" consistency. Thanks again for sharing! This is a staple in our house. :)

I made this for tacos and it turned out great. I love making my own taco seasonings and this recipe did not disappoint. I will use it again. Thanks for sharing. Made for ZWT8.

We enjoyed the combination of spices used in this recipe. Penzey spices were used exclusively to make this dish. I used their Mexican oregano. Sliced ripe olives was the only optional ingredient that was not used. I made this for Zaar World Tour 8 for the Bistro Babes team.

I personally would have given this a 3, I think the coriander was too much. (not in amount..) But I made it for a potluck and everyone liked it. I didn't add the corn starch and it didn't seem to need it. Made for ZWT8

Easy to do, nicely balanced, as good or better than with a seasoning packet. We served it as taco filling, and completely enjoyed it. Made for Zaar World Tour 8.

I loved this meat! It was not as strong flavor as packaged, but it felt more homey and wholesome. Nice combination. I will definitely be using this from now on! Thanks.

For dietary reasons I omitted the onion and salt but did everything else as per recipe. When the DH saw the mix his comment was I thought you were doing a spicy mix it looks like plain fried mince (ground beef) but it certainly gave a kick when eaten. I served the beef in a bowl at the table with a selection of vegetables etc. (grated carrot, grated cheese, diced capsicum, carrot, cucumber; sliced onion, spring onion/scallion and torn iceberg lettuce) and some wholemeal/wholegrain wraps and everyone helped themselves and used sauce of choice (tomato/ketchup, b-b-q or garlic mayo). A good quick easy and tasty mid week dinner that didn't break the budget and was well received by all. Thank you diner524, made for Potluck Tag.

DH loved the taste of this meat Lynn. The flavors together were perfect for a great mexican meal. I fried up some left-over redskin potatoes with onions and he topped these with the meat. A nice filling meal-in-one. :-) Made for ZaarStars.

Made for Gimme 5. We were split on this ~ DD loved it, DH was indifferent and I thought it was missing something. It was however, very easy and great for a quick weeknight meal. Thanks diner!

It's delicious. No need to buy a fajitas mix. And I omitted the salt. We ate it as fajitas with salsa, sour cream, lettuce and cheese. Yummy! Thanks Diner :) Made for the Saucy Senoritas of ZWT5

Muy Bueno! This is simple and made with ingredients that I always have on hand. I used a hot Mexican chili powder, Mexican oregano and a 4-cheese Mexican blend (cheddar, asadero, queso quesailla and monterey jack). I made tacos with this and added every optional ingredient - at least to me they should be required, lol. Thanks diner for another great keeper. Made for ZWT5 2009.

A real family pleaser! The entire family enjoyed it. It stirred together very easily and it was nice knowing that I wasn't feeding my family the extra sodium and additives in commercial taco seasoning packets. Thanks diner524 - this will go into my TNT file :) Made for Ali Baba's Babes ZWT5.
