This recipe makes a great starter, especially as a family recipe. Keeping in mind the spice tolerance of the people you're feeding, some red cayenne pepper can really add some great flavor to this. as well as fresh garlic, cilantro, tomato paste and a healthy dash of sriracha!
Good but truth is a total lack of Mexican Flavour and Authenticity. I recommend, add a little Ketchup, Black Pepper and some hot sauce (to taste). Much more Authentic tasting!!!!!
Was expecting more. Perhaps adding some tomato sauce or a jalapeno would have improved it, but the meat was missing something.
Great flavour and very easy to do, for pickier eaters adding the onion and peppers at the beginning of the cooking process would help "hide" them and might even help infuse their flavour a bit better. Add some fresh lime juice for some acid and it's even better. My 2 year old LOVED it, and so did the rest of my family. Definitely a keeper.
I used a slightly modified version of these seasonings: 2 tbsp chili powder, 1 tbsp cumin, 2 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp cayenne, and it turned out great. I also just used a whole onion, and no pepper. This is way better than the pre-packaged stuff... I'll be making it again and again!
Very tasty taco filling. we usually just use a seasoning packet but I didn't have one so I tried this tonight. It was easy to prepare but did take longer to cook but well worth it. My very picky four year old ate 2 tacos tonight. Thanks for a great recipe.
